Alan Mathews Press Conference

Cork City Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Mathews as Manager. Mathews, 42, was formerly manager of Longford Town where he enjoyed considerable success, winning two FAI Cups and one League Cup in his six seasons in charge of the Midlands club. Mathews has put pen to paper on a 3 year contract with the club, and will be officially unveiled at a press conference in Beamish House tomorrow afternoon at 4.30. He expressed his delight at taking on the role and told CorkCityFC.ie: “I consider it a great honour to have been given the opportunity to manage the club. I’m looking forward to working with quality players at a club that has such passionate supporters. I can’t wait to get working and I look forward to a successful future with Cork City.”

Commenting on the appointment, the Rebel Army’s General Manager Aidan Tynan said: “We are delighted to welcome Alan on board as manager. He has a proven record of success over the past number of years with Longford Town, and we look forward to him bringing success to Cork City in the coming seasons.”
