The draw for the 2006 Setanta Sports Cup will take place on Monday December 12th in The National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks, Dublin 7 at 5.30pm. In the draw will be Cork City, Derry City, Shelbourne, Drogheda United, Linfield, Glentoran, Portadown and Dungannon Swifts.
The eight teams will be split into two groups of four with each team playing six matches in the group. All eight teams will be in action on the opening night of the Setanta Sports Cup, Monday February 20th. The top two teams in each group progress to the one-legged semi-finals with the final taking place on Saturday April 22nd at a Dublin venue.

Any of the eircom League clubs can be assigned any of FAI 1 to FAI 4 but there will be some assigning in relation to the IFA teams in order to ensure that Linfield as holders have a home game in the opening series and that they and Glentoran are not both playing at home on the same night.
