Last Sunday the snow had finally cleared enough to walk the Strada Delle 52 Gallerie (the Path of the 52 Tunnels) the most famous route up Monte Pasubio. It goes from roughly 1200m up to 2000m and was hacked out of the rock in eight months in 1917 by the Italian army to create a supply route to the top of the massif. There they dug trenches and fought the Austrian troops in battles every bit as bloody as the Somme and where there is snow until late June. It was a magnificent hike and I look...

So Silvio Berlusconi finally is convicted of tax fraud and will serve a one year sentence. Although unfortunately this is likely to take the form of house arrest or community service, my fantasy is that he shares a cell with a large man who likes to be called Giovanna and forces Silvio to take part in prison bunga bunga parties as a dancer and provider of "entertainment" services.
